EMPIRES DAWN OF THE MODERN WORLD:
THE AGE OF WARRING STATES
Empires Dawn of the Modern World: The Age of Warring States is downloadable content fanmade.
This new DLC includes a new campaign, "Age of Warring States", consisting of 5 scenarios [UPDATE: Now there are 6 scenarios!] starring Daimyōs from the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods with an editable file containing the "Japanese Civilization" that you can use to play in deathmatches of your choice.
Why is this DLC called "Age"? Well, "Age" is a common word in this kind of games, in order to get attention it was decided to use that name. Also, the Sengoku Period is known as "Sengoku Jidai", which means "Age of Warring States". So the word Jidai, that comes from the characters "時代 " means Age. In addition, this project can be considered as "the first", since the final version will be called "Dreams of a Unified Japan".

Development:
The Age of Warring States (2018 - 2020) was developed via trigger, not mods. It includes audio files for the campaign mode and an AI system that meets the basic standards and a little more. The Japanese Civilization was developed using the Korean Civilization as a basis, however, it has been modified on a large scale in order to create a new and different civilization.
Battle of Okehazama |
A simple example is that the Korean Civiliazazión obtains new commoners for each one that they defeat from the enemy, this specialty is called "Slavery" and is not available in the Japanese Civilization.
In addition, the technologies, improvements, units, attributes and names are different. A few seconds after starting the game you will notice that it is very different. This DLC seeks to make the most of the Empires Dawn of the Moderm World software and its editor in order to provide players with more hours of play, entertainment and fun.
As for the historical accuracy, I tried to take it to the fullest. For example, the Japanese were not really known for developing siege weapons like the European ones, so I took care when I was adding those that appeared in their history. It is also interesting that (in game) between the Medieval, Gunpowder and Imperial ages; the Japanese will continue to use almost the same units, but receive new siege weapons at each age, and the ashigarus.
Odawara Castle |
The campaign’s battles are based on their true history; the animation tries to reflect what is known about the story with a touch of original fun, for example, at the level "Burning of Hiei Mount", I combined the events together with those of the Sieges of Nagashima. The audios used in the Campaign belong to several Taiga Drama (dramas that the NHK network gives to the annual year-long historical drama television series it broadcasts in Japan).
Why I did not use mods? The reason is that I don't have what it takes to do it. If you want to help creating some mods; it would be great. Currently I am interested in modifying the samurai flags and modifying some helmets. I would like to have Samurais with Naginata on horseback and a new model for the Yumi Archers. Buildings can wait, there is not much to do in that regard.
Campaign Mode Notes:
In this section I will explain how to start the campaign scenarios and watch the animations correctly.
At the beginning, the camera will be centered on the main character, for example, Oda Nobunaga. You should not move the cursor to move away from Nobunaga, as that will interrupt the "follow" that the camera performs on Nobunaga. So, do not move the cursor.
I did not use the cinematic mode because it was not compatible with a "fast game" speed trigger system. So yes, the game is in fast! Without moving the cursor, the game will show the serie of animations and the history of the stage, enjoy that!
When will I know that the animations are over and that I can start playing freely?
When the Objetives List appears on screen! When the list appears, the game will have started according to the triggers. That would be all. I regret that the editor did not allow to create animations in "fast" game speed that works well, but doing what I mentioned, you will notice that they are not necessary!
NOTE: Pressing ESC will not skid the animations, so after they stop, save the game at that point. So you can restart from there if you are defeated.
Basic features:
- Playable Japanese Civilization: In each scenario you will play under the Japanese civilization, which has its own characteristics.
- Heroes: In this expansion, heroes have special abilities, which fire automatically after a certain time, being an example of them "death before dishonour!". The skills can be different depending on the hero. In addition, the heroes have "self-regeneration of hit points" and their own attributes.
- Units: Japanese units can be varied. Including Samurai, Samurai with Naginata, Mounted Samurai, Ashigaru, Yumi Archer, Countries Destroyer, Vassal and some others.
- Special Qualities: Japanese temples have more power and from time to time they fire "battle cry" around them. Japanese troops are strong and have unique characteristics, but they do not change much between ages, however, they acquire new units like cannons thanks to the imports from Europe.
